A chap who writes stuff
Back in school a favourite teacher once predicted Kit would end up as a writer, and that sentiment was echoed by his physics teacher a few years later. Looking at the world through the lens of sciences has always been a thing for Kit, so he pursued a physics degree and – just to really frazzle his brain – a PhD. To pay his way through the doctorate, he had some unexpected and fun side jobs, including volunteer work, teaching and working in a wine shop. All this was before getting some real science-based jobs.
He was tempted into other careers pretty soon, but in every new job he found ways to bring in his science education and more creative experiences (once amusing a CEO with an animated CGI pig as part of a financial presentation) including, much later, being a stay-at-home dad. Creativity is a big part of that job, let me tell you.
After winning a role writing for some of the world’s biggest tech blogs, then business and innovation websites and magazines (where he developed beats covering Apple, science, innovation in business and finance, robotics and commercial space) Kit had a five year spell writing as weekly app columnist for the New York Times both online and in print.
Now he’s developing new writing skills, and spending time designing and building large-scale 3D printers, learning to paint and how to take beautiful photographs. He’s also become a Web Summit fixture as presenter.
There are a few big projects on the way too. Watch this space, it’s where you’ll learn more about what’s brewing and read more about it all soon!
